Ian Stoneham

About Me

I’m a Soft Tissue Therapy expert with 10 years of experience and hundreds of clients treated, practicing sports, deep tissue and holistic massage. I employ a combination of traditional teachings, the latest modern techniques and expertly-judged pressure to relax tired muscles and ease pain.

Drawing on my experience as a yoga instructor, I ensure you continue to reap the benefits of your massage by providing you with exercises to stretch and strengthen the body after your session.

Whether you’re recovering from a soft tissue injury or simply looking to feel renewed, rejuvenated and restored, book a treatment and feel the difference.

My Approach

How I Work With You

01

Listen First

Every session starts with a conversation about what you’re experiencing, what you’ve tried, and what you’re hoping to achieve.

02

Assess & Locate

Before hands-on work, I look at posture, movement patterns and tissue quality to understand the full picture.

03

Targeted Treatment

I’ll adapt the massage to what you need that day – whether that’s focused work on a specific area, a broader full-body approach, or a mix of both.

04

Practical Advice

You’ll leave knowing exactly what’s going on and what you can do to help yourself between sessions.

Qualified & Insured

Why a Qualified Sports Massage Therapist?

I trained at the London School of Sports Massage (LSSM), gaining the ISRM-validated BTEC Level 5 Professional Diploma in Soft Tissue Therapy – one of the highest qualifications in the UK industry, recognised nationally.

Not all massage is the same, and not all therapists have the same training. Sports massage qualifications go well beyond relaxation technique – they include anatomy, physiology and injury mechanics, so treatment is based on understanding what’s actually happening in the tissue, not just where it feels tight.

That’s the difference between a generalist rubbing out tension and a therapist who can recognise the difference between DOMS, a developing overuse injury, and something that needs referring on to a physio or GP. It means treatment is assessment-led rather than one-size-fits-all – adapted to your training, your history and what’s actually driving the problem.

It’s why clients dealing with recurring injuries, training load or a specific niggle tend to get more out of a session with a sports massage-qualified therapist than a generic spa treatment.
